A Study on Stress and Adaptation among Patients with Traffic Accidents

As industrialization and dramatic economic advancement have been progressed in Korea, the number of vehicles and corresponding number of traffic accidents have been increased in Korea. Traffic accidents may lead to serious problems to the family and society as well as to the victims. Literature review revealed that there has been little research on this topic in Korea. Thus, the present study was designed to explore the relations between stress and adaptation among patients with traffic accidents. In order to accomplish this purpose, two independent studies were conducted. More specifically, Study 1 utilized open questionnaire with 102 traffic accidents patients residing in Taegu and Kyongsangbuk-do area, focusing on their life stresses and coping styles. Thus, future study needs to explore the relations among stress, coping, and adaptation in the same study.
